Infrastructure rarely goes as planned. In this case rocks, big ones, meant changing the location of the septic tank last minute. Word is, if we weren’t going to blast through, we needed to adjust where the tank is placed. So it was moved, just a bit and laid out perpendicular to its planned layout. It worked, as the photos show. But . . .
The county was not happy with the change and we had to get new engineering approval then re-apply for the permit and get it re-inspected. $$$ of course. Its function didn’t change, the leach field didn’t change, just the septic tank itself. So why oh why the bureaucratic run around? $$$ of course. The final layout needed to be filed for future needs, no one disagrees with that, but beyond that – there was no functional change. Okay, rant done!
On the plus side – our septic guy did a little landscape work with the normal size rocks removed while digging. We now have the beginnings of a ramp to the utility/laundry room of the house – perfect entry for hauling groceries, etc in.
